Our schools endeavour to create a dynamic learning environment for children where they can be happy, value themselves and others, grow in confidence, know success and gain knowledge and skills for the world of today and tomorrow.
We will strive for the fullest development of each child in all areas of school life; social, moral, intellectual, physical, spiritual and emotional. We believe that children who feel happy and believe in themselves can succeed and achieve. We aim to inspire children so that they aspire to be the very best they can be. We cultivate and nurture attitudes of support, respect and care in all our activities and relationships and for all our children.
We help our pupils build independence, character, resilience, leadership skills and a love of learning. Our culture is focused on promoting excellence; supporting our pupils to achieve academic success and developing aspirational children with bright futures ahead. We encourage our children to develop a lifelong love of learning so they are confident, motivated pupils who are open-minded, positive learners who believe, succeed and achieve.
Our school values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens:
We respect each other, ourselves and the world around us. We understand the feelings of others and seek to help by showing compassion and forgiveness. We do not merely tolerate difference and diversity, we actively celebrate the uniqueness of all individuals. We encourage all within our community to learn about and engage with our nation's democratic processes both locally and nationally to help to support, protect and sustain for the future the respect due to every citizen.
We are supportive, warm, friendly and caring and show our love and friendship towards others at all times. We are approachable and willing to listen and show that we go the extra mile to help and be of service to others.
We inspire each other by offering hope and encouragement and by setting a good example through our own behaviours. We are creative and innovative and use our special talents to express original ideas and solve problems. We always strive to be the very best that we can be.
We show endurance, resilience and hope by persevering in all things. We don't fear making mistakes because we know that this is part of the learning process. We have 'growth mindsets' and believe that anything is possible with hard work and commitment.
We are independent learners and people. We show courage by never giving up, going for our goals and standing up for what we believe to be right. We are confident in our own abilities and willing to try new things, as well as being confident in those around us. We celebrate individuals such as William Wilberforce and Elizabeth Fry who through courage and perseverance have influenced the political and social life of Britain, and those such as Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela who have also powerfully informed our values and culture.
We understand that knowing the difference between right and wrong will be of only partial use if we do not have the courage to speak the truth and do what is right. We understand that a person’s understanding of the truth and truthfulness will sometimes be influenced by their religious and cultural experiences. We promote curiosity and respect as we learn about the diversity of beliefs and social backgrounds that make up modern Britain’s society.
