The Federation of North WalshamInfant and Junior Schools

Meet our Governors

There are currently 7 members who make up our Local Governance Committee. These consist of one staff member (as well as the Headteacher) and 6 other members from the school and local community. Find out more about each of our governors below.

(There is also a table at the bottom giving further details such as each governor's terms of office and register of interest)

Caroline Bell

Safeguarding and SEND Governor

I joined the governing body in 2013 when my son was in year 1 and have remained committed to supporting the school since both of my children have left.  Within the last 10 years I have had a variety of roles such as vice chair, chair of finance and premises committees and was an active part of SLT recruitment and the decision making around joining a Trust.  I also served as Chair of the Friends charity for 6 years and we raised over £40k for the school within that time.

I have worked within financial services for 23 years and have a local business with my husband.  Outside of work I enjoy reading and I am frequently used as a taxi driver for my children so I don’t get a lot of time for many other activities!

Vicky Harmer

Chair of Governors

I immensely enjoy my role as Chair of Governors, for which I was elected in September 2022. I am passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential and have spent over 20 years as a primary school teacher. Over the last two years, I have stepped back from my teaching role to support my husband, Russ, to run his two local convenience stores and focus on my two children, Olivia and George, both of whom attend NWIJS. I love being able to use my knowledge and skills from my educational background to support and challenge the school and trust to be the best we can be. In my spare time, I love getting out on my road bike, and as a family, we also like to travel.

Louise Lawes

I have been working at the school since September 2021 and became a Staff Governor shortly after joining. I have worked in both the Infant and Junior parts of the school. I have worked in education for the past seven years and was previously a Parent Governor at my children’s primary school. It is a privilege to now be a governor at the school I work in. Outside of school, I enjoy walking and gardening and curling up with a book at the end of the day.

Aedan Robinson

My two daughters attend the junior school and when the opportunity came in March 2022 to apply to join the governors, it was an easy decision.

Despite having no prior experience in education, I have enjoyed learning about the school and how it is run, and seeing the dedication and enthusiasm of the staff to provide the best platform for the children. I work as an accountant for a construction business and in my spare time I enjoy both football and golf, and have recently started to coach girls ages 5-11.

Verena Teufel

My son attends the school and having been part of the Parent Council I took the opportunity to apply for the Parent Governor Role in November 2021.

I have no background in education nor have I been to school in England myself, so it was and still is a learning experience for me being part of this great school. I like being at the beach, cycling, reading (if time permits) and playing games.

The Revd David Warner

This is the third parish I’ve served and in all of them I have been a member of the school governing body - I am currently also a governor at Worstead School. I am committed to supporting the whole school community in seeking the very best forr the children, families and staff who form this special ‘community within a community.’ I live in and serve the Benefice of North Walsham with my wife Penny and our Border Terrier, Buddy. Away from work, we enjoy walking and I have a passion for Lego.
