Recognition Boards

“The advertising of poor behaviour to the rest of the class doesn’t help, but routinely advertising the behaviour that you do want does” When the Adults Change, Everything Changes by Paul Dix

We strongly believe in explicitly teaching behaviours we want to see and celebrating positive behaviour often. We have introduced 'recognition boards' in each class to promote positive behaviours.

Each class has their own recoginition board.

  • At the start of the session, the board is blank and the teacher writes up today's target e.g. magnet eyes on the speaker; one voice
  • When a child meets the target, their name goes up on the board
  • The aim is to get everyone's name on the board by the end of the session
  • Children cannot be removed from the board; if they demonstrate the target, their name goes up!

Poor behaviour is dealt with seperately and privately by the teacher or member of staff.
