Poet visits North Walsham Junior School
Poet David Mason visited our school on Thursday, 28th November.
We all enjoyed an assembly where the poet performed a range of his poetry and then took questions from the children. They asked some probing questions: 'What inspired you to be a poet?' 'Which of your poems is your favourite?' 'What do you have to do to become a poet?'
Year 4 children then had workshops with David exploring words and imagery through drama. Back in the classroom, children experimented with a range of different poetic forms: haiku, shape, kennings and nonsense poems. It was great to have the opportunity to play with language and collaborate with each other.
